Hail, Good Folk! It’s time again for our quarterly wrap-up.
The last three months saw a round of birthdays for Crystal, Heath and myself. GVK’s tradition is to toast the deeds of the celebrant and honor their place in our lives. Birthdays are also a great time to eat, drink and be merry.
This quarter also kicked off festival season. At Thor’s Hollow, GVK led the Friday night blot at Vanirfest , and our own Nick Breckley led a workshop on Saturday. Vanirfest was great fun, and the workshops were a learning experience. We look forward to becoming a more integral part of the Thor’s Hallow festival scene.
We celebrated two seasonal gatherings. April was a rousing flower festival to Friga. June was Litha, dedicated to Baldur and the burning of a sunwheel. Due to scheduling conflicts we skipped our Eostre blot in May, but many of our members honored Eostre with Gladsheim Kindred in Columbia, MD.
We also had our quarterly pub moot in Hagerstown. Great fun was had. We met some new people like Raven.
We are initiating a quarterly community service project. At Litha we collected non-perishables for a local food bank. Future plans involve contributions to animals shelters.
On a personal note, it has been an interesting couple of months. Our Folk have been through a lot of changes, some of them fruitful, and some challenging. We have garnered wisdom from our experiences, and we are blessed to to be surrounded by a larger Heathen community who have walked this path longer than we have. Our kindred has been around for two years now, and as we go into the future we have a better idea of how we wish to structure things.
On that last note, we close this quarter with a Business Meeting. The results of the meeting will be published shortly after the vote which will occur on or before June 28th.
