Nick Breckley has served as GVK’s de facto clergy since 2011. He is versed in Heathen lore, Anglo-Saxon language and ritual, the runes, and comparative mythology. His ideas and knowledge were crucial in guiding us in our formative stages.
However, Nick has taken a step back from administration to deal with personal issues. He remains a member of the kindred and will serve as our larwita (lore expert). We thank Nick for his contributions to the kindred.
The kindred feels an officially recognized clergy is needed to move forward. We have had one in our ranks for some time. Rev. Crystal Groves is legally ordained through Ár nDraíocht Féin: A Druid Fellowship. Crystal joined us in 2012. She has served in many capacities: treasurer, website developer and ritual Valkyrie. She has grown in the ways of Heathenry, and is successful in her secular career.
On the 2nd weekend of July, the kindred will hold a private ceremony where Crystal will take an oath of office. At that point she will be officially bestowed with the title of weofodthegn, or altar-priest. She will perform all activities expected of modern clergy, as well as serving as the kindred’s ambassador to surrounding interfaith communities.
We wish Crystal good luck in her new position, and we look forward to a bright future.
