Nick Breckley served as our initial clergy, having had a considerable body of Lore under his belt. He presided over the formative stages of our kindred, and we thank him for his service. However, in the past year or so, Nick has drifted from kindred administration due to the demands of his personal life. His position as clergy was replaced by Crystal Groves, a person who had more time (and more credentials) to serve in that capacity.
In the past few months, Nick’s personal life has come under a certain duress which brings into question the Wyrd he carries with him to our Symbel. We as a kindred have certain expectations of behavior for our members and the honor they bring to themselves and their friends.
The other four members of the kindred have repeatedly urged Nick to deal with these issues in a constructive manner. We gave him patience and support, but we let it be known we disagreed with his choices. Our advice was however completely ignored. Our friend descended further into bad decisions which began impacting his reputation – and by extension, ours. In the past few months we have exhausted our reserves of patience, even as his own questionable actions have only escalated. The kindred has decided there is no other way but to let him bear the consequences of his decisions without the further support of GVK and without our own reputation in the Heathen community connected to him.
The kindred Reeve, Josh French, has spoken with Nick. Nick has agreed he cannot fulfill the role of a Kindred Elder at present. By mutual consent, both Nick and the Kindred have agreed that he should take an extended leave of absence. Nick has been released from his oath of Frith, and his Wyrd is no longer tied to ours. He will also abstain from wider Heathen regional events for the time being.
Nick has expressed a desire to earnestly improve his life, reputation, and Wyrd. We in GVK extend fond wishes to our friend. We hope the issues of his personal life can be resolved in a constructive and honorable fashion. If and when that happens, he can return to our kindred fellowship to reunite his Wyrd with ours.
