Oathing Ceremony 2014

Josh, Crystal, Donald and myself met at Thor’s Hollow for the annual meeting of oathed members.  Nick could not make it because of familial reasons.

I conducted a review of all the runes we have received since last year this time.  Without going into all the specifics, there are a few runes we see time and time again in our rites.  They speak of the need to hold fast to our inner values while recognizing the need to adapt our outer forms as we grow and revolve.   The give-and-take of relationships (to deities and each other) is also a reoccurring theme.    Let it be known we do take the All-Father’s runic insights into mind when we plan kindred business.

Next, there was a ceremony at the campground Ve which accomplished three things:

1)       The 4 members present renewed their oaths of Frith to each other.  Frith is peace and mutual support.   The oath also states that while one is a member of Great Valley Kindred, they shall strive continuously to ensure the worth of the kindred.

2)      The 4 members renewed an oath of Grith:  http://grithowaer.wordpress.com/      Our mentality has always been every kindred has its own internal custom and provided they leave us to our local custom, we will leave them to theirs.

3)      Josh and I took an oath to fulfill our current offices as Administrator and Scribe, respectively.  Crystal took an oath of office for her new position as Altar-Priestess.

In the long term we envision doing a lot more community outreach to the regional Heathen and pagan communities, spear-headed by our new Altar-Priestess.   In the short term, our next public events will be mid-August and early September.   We would also like to have a kindred only meeting before then with our members to discuss some of the recent changes.

If you have any questions, please reach out to us.
